Okay guys.
This is it.
THE BIG ONE.
The one we've all been waiting for,
HOLY COW!
THE FIELD TRIP!
So, basically, the FIELD TRIP will almost take the whole part of this awesome blog. So, let us tell you all about "This Field Trip". On February 4, 2011 , we had the funnest, most happiest, energetic and LONGEST field trip to the University of the Philippines in Los Banos (UPLB). Our field trip was focused on the Philippines Biodiversity, The Kingdoms ( Animal and Plant) so it can be one collective focus to all of us. We joined this field trip because , hey, who wouldn't wanna come to a fun and outdoor experience of the Philippines? And also because there is much to explore for our knowledge in Science. We had a few visits for the field trip, we went to the Dairy Training and Research Institute ( DTRI), Institute of Plant Breeding, Makiling Botanical Garden, Museum of Natural History, and Internation Rice Research Institute ( IRRI). Now aren't you wondering about that HOLY COW! we just said? Well, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride..
(You, fellow reader, is about to go on a virtual adventure, one so great it will leave you speechless. Allow us to bring you to a place you will really love and enjoy. Read on, to continue to be amazed.)
Four mysterious kids sat in the middle of the computer lab, arguing to their hearts content, except for one, who was sitting quietly in the corner. Suddenly they turned and spotted you peeking at them from the door, and ceased their fighting.
“HEYA,” An energetic girl shouted, skipping towards you. “WELCOME BACK!”
“Shush, Wild,” Another girl her age said in an uptight voice. “Don’t scare of the reader,”
“But I only wanted to great them!” The girl who was named ‘Wild’ said defensively. “Can’t I do that Mild?”
“Only if you can keep your cool, Wild,” Mild said, nodding her head. “And don’t bother, Wasabi, let her do what she wants.”
The girl named Wasabi sighed and shrugged, leaning back into her chair. She gave a half nod towards the boy staying quiet in the corner and he started to speak.
“Hi, I’m the, Child.” He said in a rather timid voice. “I guess right now will be the time I should tell you who I am .”
"Now with that out of the way, please point your attention to the Mild and Wasabi to tell you why you are here..." The Wild said, somehow confused with the words that just came out of the Child’s mouth.
“Anyway, dear reader, we know you have been following us and that you have been waiting for our “adventure”. Well, this is it. THE BIG ONE…The one we've all been waiting for…
HOLY COW! THE FIELD TRIP!!!”
Joining an exposure trip, well, exposes us to the things around us. Because of these kinds of adventures, we are able to learn a lot of interesting things. Also, adventures like this help us kids to fully understand the topic we are learning. More importantly, these journeys bind us together … giving us adventurers… life-long memories.
For our first sight, it was all about dairy. YES, the one that makes yogurt, cakes, ice cream and all the other pastries very indulging. That’s why we were very thrilled to know that we were going to this sight. Of course, we still didn’t know what was stored for us, so we had some things that we expected. These are; learning about how milk was processed, a tour around the place, some free taste of the goodies and also, some facts about the things involved in dairy.
Here's a picture of a herd of cows as seen in DTRI..
As we journeyed to our first destination, energy was flowing in the bus’s atmosphere. As we go farther, more and more excitement was built. At last, we reached our destination! Everybody was jumping out of joy and all was geared up to discover what was in store for us.
In our first trip, we were brought into a cold room wherein we discussed about the process of getting milk. We were taught about how to get the milk from the cow, and all the matter relating to the issue. As part of discovering, we were also introduced to the food that the cow eats. Aside from this, we gained a lot of interesting facts about how they get the “sperm” from the male cow in order for the female cow to produce milk. Afterwards, we met several cows from the farm. We were also toured in the factory where they processed the milk.
After the tour, we were free to buy the fresh milk!(sadly, there was no free taste). A few minutes after, we all went back to the bus, still filled with energy... Ready for the next trip!
And that, dear reader, is the end of our first destination... Hope you learned from us and hope you still stay tuned for the rest of our extraordinary trip!
NEXT STOP; Institute of Plant Breeding!
Good-bye everyone!!! Hope you enjoyed!!
